"You Never know how strong you are until strength is your only option".

About

Some people would say what happened to me was like hearing a plot for a new movie. August 2013 New York City, 2 best friends on the first day of their holiday, then out of no where a taxi driver ploughs onto the pavement hitting a cyclist then hits one of the girls severing off her left leg.....this girl was then helped by a plumber who stopped her bleeding to death by using his belt as a tonique. Then comes along an American celebrity, Dr Oz to ensure everything was in place to save her life.

Unfortunately for me, this is exactly what happened to me and after that movie like encounter I would then spend the next 6 weeks at the Bellevue Hospital in New York City.

I was extremely lucky to be alive so my thought process was very positive throughout as things could have been a lot worse! To allow me to wear a prosthetic leg I had to have 4 surgeries altogether due to the nature of how I became an amputee.

After my hospital stay and telling my side of the story to New York press and Tv Shows I was able to fly home where the real fun began....learning to walk again.

Before I lost my leg I was a dancer, stilt walker and a university student, studying fashion buying with design.

I was no stranger to hard work so learning to walk again was just something I took in my stride and the stilt walking actually came in handy when walking on a prosthetic.

Fashion was a huge part of my life and I wasn't about to give that up, so I carried on with my University and in 2015 I graduated with a 2.1. My achievements grew as I then went onto set up The Sian Green Foundation, which helps support amputee's and also to part fund prosthetics.

I'm hoping to share my story of determination and strength in hopes it will inspire, encourage and help anyone that needs it. I am a huge believer in everything happens for a reason and I am convinced that my unfortunate limb loss happened for a greater purpose.
